The Retina Foundation of the Southwest (RFSW), located in Dallas, Texas, is one of the premier eye research facilities in the country. The RFSW is involved in cutting-edge eye research into the causes and treatments of age-related macular degeneration, infant eye disorders, and inherited retinal eye diseases.

Gates open at 12 noon and the festivities will begin at 1:00 p.m. with cocktails and canapés. There will be a luncheon buffet from 1-4pm and the races begin promptly at 1:35 p.m. sharp. We will have a wonderful selection of silent auction and Big Board items that will make everyone happy.

David R. Stager, Sr. Lectureship

A new endowed lecture series, The David R. Stager, Sr. Lecture in Pediatric Ophthalmology and Adult Strabismus, has been established at the Retina Foundation. "We are very pleased to have received a gift from Dr. and Mrs. David R. Stager, Jr. in honor of Dr. David R. Stager, Sr. to endow the series," stated President Rand Spencer.

"The David R. Stager, Sr. Lecture will bring leading researchers in the field of pediatric ophthalmology and adult strabismus to Dallas to share their accomplishments in advancing our understanding of extraocular muscle diseases." The first lecture was be given by Dr. John Porter on January 29, 2008. Dr. Porter is Program Director for Neuromuscular Disease at the National Institute for Neurological Disorders and Stroke. His research focuses on inherited and acquired neuromuscular disorders of the eye and skeletal muscles.
